A recent mother herself, Ellen Clegg has first-hand experience with the ancient tool of rhythm and drumming in labor. Opening to the rhythms of one’s body (contractions), is a major part of the birth process. Ellen Clegg can help women prepare to use the power of rhythm (and drumming) in their birth experience. Ellen Clegg has been offering community drumming programs at numerous nursing facilities and the results have been heart-warming, particularly when the drumming elders inspire their nurses to dance! Lifting spirits and building community, some programs have evolved into monthly or biweekly activities because of the success. Feel free to contact Ellen to offer a program in your facility.
Ellen Clegg has been part of a grant program observing the effects of drumming and music on patients with Alzheimer’s. The results so far have been inspiring, as some people who no longer participate in anything except meals have picked up drum sticks and drummed along engagingly with Ellen and the group. Ellen Clegg has offered stress reduction workshops for nurses, social workers, doctors, and various other health care providers. The workshops have always been very spirited and well received. Please contact me. Would love to talk more about a couple possiblities. I am the program coordinator at Loomis Village Retirement community. It is an independent and assisted living community.
